28. Liver

Liver

Liver, an organ with the most regenerative capacity, is named so, based on a mythological truth which will leave you awestruck. It is a myth about the Hero of ancient times Prometheus who stole fire by defying Greek god Zeus. As a consequence to this punishment, Prometheus was bound to a rock where an eagle would come and feed on his liver each day, but to their surprise, it would grow back to the same size each time. Furthermore, this continued till Hercules the Hero freed Prometheus and killed Zeus.

‎The liver, an organ only found in vertebrates, detoxifies various metabolites, synthesizes proteins, and produce biochemicals necessary for digestion. Overall it is said that it carries out more than 500 functions. Can you imagine living without a liver? We are blessed that we are still alive despite the high antibiotics and analgesics that deteriorate liver functions. It’s therefore called Liver cause we live with a major role of the liver.

In Ephesians 2:4‭-‬5 Word of God says ‘But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),’ We are regenerating every day despite our flaws and sins in this evil world. Many a time we don’t forgive others and never ask forgiveness from God, still, He is merciful and giving us a chance to repent. If we keep failing until the end, just as the Liver degenerates and eventually leads to Multiorgan failure and death, in the same manner, if don’t have a remorse or receive salvation from God. We will end up in hell.
