PROMISE DAY
BRAIN SCAN WILL NOW REVEAL WHO KEEPS THEIR PROMISES
WOW is it? People first make a promise decision (promise stage), then they anticipate whether the promise affects the interaction partner’s decision (anticipation stage) and are subsequently free to keep or break the promise (decision stage).
the breach of the promise can be predicted by a perfidious brain activity pattern in the anterior insula, ACC, inferior frontal gyrus (parts of the brain) during the promise and anticipation stage.
Keeping promises is considered a measure of one’s worth—we prize being “as good as our word.” Yet each of us has struggled to keep some of our promises, often feeling like failures when we’ve been unable to do so. We all rush to make promises. Are we keeping them? By breaking promises we break the hearts of the people as well.
Before making promises think of the following points
1)What is the motivation behind my promise?
2)Will I be able to keep my promise
3)Am I being realistic?
Word of God says “If a man vows a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.” Numbers 30:2. We better take a pledge today like what King David said on Psalms 89:34 I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips.” Happy Promise Day. God bless you.
