30. Emphysema

Emphysema

Oxygen, the most essential need for all living beings and of course lungs are the vital organs that regulate the amount of oxygen provision. Emphysema is pathologically defined as an abnormal permanent enlargement of air spaces distal to the terminal bronchioles, accompanied by the destruction of alveolar walls and without obvious fibrosis. Etiology being an alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency (also known as alpha-1 antiprotease deficiency). Deficiency of AAT is inherited as an autosomal codominant condition. The gene, located on the long arm of chromosome 14 with different phenotypes.
‎                        Our Medicine professor always used to describe this condition as ‘Poverty in Plenty’ stating that though the Lung becomes hyper voluminous yet it’s impoverished in its function. In our day to day life, we may live, earn and be spendthrift but lack the utmost fundamentals- a piece of mind. In these end days, all that we realize is the loss of elemental ideas of Peace, Harmony, Togetherness and Love. Many have drifted away to materialism and hypocrisy and being judgemental of others.
‎                         Word of God beautifully mentions in Ecclesiastes 5:10‭-‬11″Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!” Just question yourself, is our workplace peaceful, do we live in harmony with our family, or is the ambience around us serene?.
